NHAI chief inspects Dwarka eway, flags missing links, alignments and drainage Pradeep, July 23, 2023September 23, 2023 The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Chairperson, Santosh Kumar Yadav, conducted an inspection of the 18.9-kilometer stretch of the Dwarka Expressway in Gurgaon. During the inspection, Yadav highlighted various issues, including missing links and road alignment. Yadav stated that the expressway will have the appearance of an urban forest, with four small forests or “mini-Amazons” located at the loops of the cloverleaf on NH-48. He mentioned that saplings would be planted using the Miyawaki technique. The cloverleaf intersection consists of four interchangeable loops, connecting NH-48, Southern Peripheral Road, and Dwarka Expressway near the Kherki Daula toll plaza. Yadav emphasized that the Dwarka Expressway will enhance connectivity between Gurgaon and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The project will involve the construction of tunnels, underpasses, elevated flyovers, and flyovers above flyovers. The construction of the 29-kilometer expressway is in its final stage, connecting Mahipalpur in Delhi to Khedki Daula on NH-48 in Gurgaon. However, due to interruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and a collapse of an under-construction section in March 2021, the completion of the remaining 10 kilometers of the expressway in Delhi is unlikely until next year. Furthermore, the Central Peripheral Road, which is part of the expressway project and aims to improve connectivity with the newer sectors by linking it with NH-8 and Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), is still closed to traffic. The NHAI closed the CPR cloverleaf last month due to safety concerns arising from ongoing construction work on the Dwarka Expressway. The cloverleaf construction began in September 2021 and was initially scheduled for completion within a year. During the inspection, the NHAI Chairman, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Nishant Yadav and GMDA CEO PC Meena, discussed the necessity of mutual coordination among GMDA, NHAI, and the district administration for the expressway project. A senior district administrative official stated that various issues regarding missing links, unavailability of a right of way along the Dwarka Expressway, service lanes, and the drainage system of GMDA were addressed. The chairman instructed officials to prepare a proposal to resolve land acquisition-related issues. Recent News
