Shrawan Kumar, the Rural Development Minister, has called on people to replace branded cold drinks with ‘neera’ in social and family functions. During the inauguration of a ‘neera’ outlet in a commercial complex in the state capital, Kumar stated that ‘neera’ is beneficial for health, and therefore the government is committed to promoting its production and consumption through the opening of ‘neera’ cafes.
Kumar mentioned that ‘neera’ is a tasty beverage, and efforts are underway to produce and consume it in almost all parts of the state. The promotion of ‘neera’ is a key project of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and numerous Jeevika workers are actively involved in it. The production and consumption of ‘neera’ have gained momentum with the implementation of the prohibition law, leading to the creation of various delicacies like ladoo, peda, and barfi to explore new market opportunities for its sale.
Kumar praised the role of Jeevika workers in the production and promotion of ‘neera’, emphasizing that significant work is underway to promote this local drink. Tanay Sultaniya, the Deputy Development Commissioner of Patna, stated that a total of 220 ‘neera’ outlets have been established in the municipal and urban areas of Patna, out of a target of 245. He also mentioned that the daily consumption figure has increased to 14,000 liters per day.
